Day 1 St Erth to Liskeard

our first full day of biking went pretty well. had a pleasant stay with the swithinbanks last night and set off at 10 in the morning. the hills were fairly gentle until the final third of the day when they became large and steep (one was 17%), but we didn't seem too much the worse for wear by the time we arrived at pete's this evening. we enjoyed a particularly scrumptious luncheon of home made cornish pastie, which rose swithinbank had sent us away with. we also hailed two cyclists passing in the other direction, who were finishing tomorrow in land's end. naturally they seemed to be in high spirits and wished us well. tomorrow should be of a simiar distance, but perhaps slightly hillier as we enter into devon.
